Empowering Education with AI — How I Built a Simple App to Let Kids Generate Their Own Project Charters

In this era of rapid AI advancement, as a Global AI SME, I constantly ask myself: What core survival skills does the next generation truly need? I firmly believe that Project Management (PM) and Business Analysis (BA) are not just job titles—they are the universal languages of the future. They are essential skills for organizing resources, defining problems, and leading machine collaboration amid automation. However, while children are often full of creativity and imagination, they often lack the structure to turn those ideas into effective outcomes. They struggle to organize a complete project activity from start to finish. This was my motivation for building this application—to provide an AI-driven "Little Mentor" that helps turn their sparks of creativity into concrete action plans.
This "Little PM Adventure Game" is more than just entertainment ; it is an interactive platform for learning Human-AI Collaboration. Using a text-based adventure format, the AI acts as a guide, guiding the child through critical questions such as "What is your goal?" "Who needs to be involved?" "What resources do you need?", and "What difficulties might you face?" In this process, children aren't memorizing dry PM terminology; they are learning the art of "Communication and Coordination." To make the experience more tangible, I integrated DALL-E 3. When a child describes their project vision, the AI instantly generates custom cover art. This isn't just a visual reward; it teaches them how to express requirements precisely under constraints—the essence of modern Prompt Engineering.
The feature I am most excited about is the tangible output: the app automatically organizes the child's dialogue into a professional Project Charter PDF . I didn't want this to remain a virtual conversation on a screen; I wanted something they could download, print, and hold in their hands. This document represents their first project prototype, giving them the confidence to say to their parents, " This is my plan! " The educational impact of this deep experience is immense, yet the computational cost is incredibly low (approx. $0.10 USD per generation). This is the true dividend of democratized AI technology in education.
To ensure this concept takes root, PM Mayors has decided to make this application available for free download and use. I have packaged the code to be user-friendly with a "Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK)" model. I encourage parents and educators to plug in their own OpenAI API Keys to power this experience—it keeps the cost minimal and completely under your control. My goal is to reduce the technical hurdles so more children can experience this new form of learning and learn early how to collaborate with AI as active partners rather than passive consumers.
This isn't just a coding project for kids to play with; it is a gift from PM Mayors to the project managers of the future. I have organized all the files and a simple setup guide in the link below. You are welcome to download it, insert your key, and start the adventure immediately. Let’s guide our children to organize their thinking and master AI tools, helping them define their roles in their future careers and lives. This is an adventure in finding a path of survival within education, and an opportunity for us to progress together with the next generation .
